The Rochester International Jazz Festival is my favorite time of year in Rochester, NY. The East End reverberates with cool sounds, be it music wafting out of the club venues, the energetic sounds emanating from the outdoor stages, or even impromptu performances on the street. The whole city comes together over jazz. Even if you don’t fancy yourself a jazz lover, it’s impossible to walk away from this festival without a newfound enthusiasm for the art form.
To fill a void in local coverage, I’ve decided to launch my Substack newsletter with festival coverage. Check in on my Substack throughout the festival for thoughts and reviews. I’ll also add some recommendations for artists to hear. Additionally, I’ll be assisting with Jazz90.1 FM’s coverage, so keep your ears on the station, which can be accessed online and on the radio waves.
See you on Jazz Street!
