Upcoming lecture

I will be giving a pre-concert lecture for the Penfield Symphony Orchestra on Monday, October 20, at 6:30 p.m., in the Penfield High School auditorium. I write the PSO’s program notes, and the orchestra was very kind to invite me to talk to their audiences about the music. Come learn about some fantastic twentieth-century repertoire, including Jennifer Higdon’s blue cathedral, Alan Hovhannes’ “Mysterious Mountain,” and Stravinsky’s Firebird. Composers’ sound tool boxes widened considerably in the twentieth century, which I always enjoy discussing. Adding in Glinka’s windswept Ruslan and Ludmilla Overture, this is a meaty program. You can buy tickets to the concert here. See you there!
